YCS/YSM Animation for Schools in Miao

  8th Sep, Miao: Four Schools in Miao had YCS/YSM (Young Catholic Students / Young Students Movement) Animation Programme from 2rd August to 4th September 2013 Rev. Sr. Agnes, the Regional Director of YCS/YSM, together with Miss Jacqueline from Diphu Diocese was here in Miao Diocese to Introduce and Follow up YCS/YSM in four Schools in Miao Diocese. Sr. Agnes introduced YCS/YSM in Divine Word School Roing from 31st Aug to 1st Sept and formed cells. She then moved to St. Savio School, Kanubari to introduce the same programme for the students. She was there in Kanubari till 3rd September. After introducing the programme in these two schools she moved to Newman School Neotan to follow up the YCS/YSM there. Meanwhile, Fr. Felix was there in Light of the World School, Miao, to follow up the YCS/YSM unit here. The Youth Department of Diocese of Miao thanks Sr. Agnes and her Team for sparing their valuable time to animate the students in our Schools. Thanks to Fr. Rai in Roing, Frs. Thomas, Oonu and Rajesh in Kanubari and Frs. Alex, Biju, Tony and Bro. Teachers Day Celebrated in Miao Diocese

8th Sep, (Kharsang) Miao: The Teachers Day was celebrated in all the Schools in the Diocese of Miao on 5th Septmber 2013. The students in  the Schools in Miao Diocese planned well in advance to celebrate this day to show their respect for their teachers. In Mother Theresa School in Kharsang the children celebrated this day with a variety of cultural items. Bishop George was the Chief Guest for the occasion. Speaking to the Teachers and Students, he said, “Teachers, please know that you play a vital role in shaping the future of these young mind. More than  the parents, you are important to the children, because they spent more time with you in the school.” He also appreciated the students for their talents they exhibited by their singing. He also requested them to respect the teachers. Documentary on the Diocese of Miao by Thomas Koopman

8th Sep, Miao: Mr. Thomas Koopman, a Dutch National, is here with us to make a Documentary on the life and ministry of the Diocese of Miao. Mr. Koopman, an Aerospace Engineering Student and an avid Photographer from the Netherlands will be with us till the 26th of September, touring all corners of the Diocese to make a documentary on the life and ministry of the Diocese of Miao. Annual Retreat for Priests in Miao Diocese

30th August, KJN, Tinsukia: A five-day Annual Retreat for Priests in Miao Diocese was organized by Bishop George in Kristu Jyothi Niwas, Tinsukia from 26 to 30 August. Rev. Fr. Iridhayaraj from Patna Archdiocese was the Retreat Preacher. He guided the Priests to make a  good and meaningful Retreat. He stressed the importance of the Word of God in the life of a Priest and that a Priest should be passionate about reading the Word of God everyday. A priest should equip himself with the Word of God to minister to the manifold need of the people under his care.  He explained to the Priests about the importance of realizing the presence of God everyday and everywhere. But we are not able to see His presence when we have wrong priority in life, when we lack genuine prayer and personal experience with God, when our heart is not clean, when we are attached to things than to God, when there is so much evil spirit is around us, when we are lazy and when we lack good confession. There were elven Priests from all over the Diocese, attending the Retreat. Frs. Bala Reddy from Tezu, Deepak from Diyun, Biju and Tony from Neotan, Lijo from Changlang, John Doley and Thomas from Namsai, Jose Oonukallel from Kanubari, Felix from Miao, Pradeep sdb from Borduria and Paulus from Minthong attended the Retreat. All the Priests were grateful to Bishop George for organizing this beautiful Retreat and also thanked Fr. Raj for the spiritual renewal that he effected in their life. Bishop George requested the retreatants to keep alive the Spirit they have received through this Retreat. Animation of Catholic Teachers by Bishop George

18th August, Tinsukia (Miao): All the Catholic Teachers in the Diocese of Miao came together on 17th August for a Day of Animation by Bishop George on 17th August at Kristu Jyothi Niwas, Tinsukia. Bishop George, knowing the importance of the role played by teachers in the progress of the Society, gathered all the Catholic Teachers in Miao Diocese for a day of Animation. There were 72 teachers from our schools all over the Diocese. Speaking to the teachers, Bishop George said, “You may be getting a less pay in comparison to your friends in some other schools. You may have to work harder and more number of days. But your role as a Catholic teacher is confined to the textbooks and notebooks. It goes beyond to shape the future of these young children under your care.” Citing various examples of the Catholic Teachers in the past, he requested them to give witness to their  faith as Catholic teachers. He appreciated the old teachers in the Diocese and requested the young ones to be more committed to their call as Catholic Teachers. Fr. CC Jose, speaking to the teachers,  echoed the same sentiments. “Do not look at your pay. But you will have the satisfaction of educating some future leaders of our society and country at large,” he said, while addressing the Teachers. Fr. Thomas Erambil, the Education Commission incharge of the Diocese of Miao, facilitated the animation.
