Summer Computer Coaching & Retreat in Diyun
10th July, Diyun: The Frs. Deepak and Jiji in Diyun arranged a Computer Coaching and Retreat for the Youth for a month during this summer from April 10 to May 15, 2013. Many boys and girls studying in various schools regularly attended the one month computer coaching and benefitted from it. They were taught the basics of computers and were guided to operate them too. The Fathers also orgnaized a Retreat for the Youth and the others in Balupathar village from 23 to 27 April, 2013. 10th July, Diyun: A month-long special literacy course for a group of women, who could not read and write, was organized in St. Jude’s Parish, Diyun from April 18 to May 15, 2013. The course was facilitated by Rev. Sr. Jancy CSM, Diyun. It was nice to see that some women and girls who never went to school showed a lot of interest to read and write. The woman group from Avoipur Village of Diyun attended the regular classes under the leadership of Sr. Jancy. They took a great interest in learning many basic things like writing their names, reading and writing A, B, C, D, 1, 2, 3, & tables etc. They were also given tips on hygiene, preserving drinking water, food, and health care. “Since we did not know to read and write, our confidence was very low. We used to feel very shy. read moreHoly Rosary Church Blessed in Laktong Changlang
10th July, Changlang: The people in Holy Rosary Parish, Laktong, Changlang had every reason to smile and celebrate on 21st March 2013, when they witnessed a big gathering of Priests and Religious and large number of faithful from all over the Diocese for the blessing and consecration of the Holy Rosary Church here. Laktong is in the Changlang District of Arunachal Pradesh. Since it is the district headquarters, we have here a mixed population of different tribes, with the Singphos and the Tangsas being the majority. We also have people of other tribes like Noctes, Wanchos and a few non-tribals. It is one of the old mission stations in the Diocese with a big active and vibrant Catholic community that had its Mass and other Liturgical Services in a humble structure made of bamboos and tin sheet roof. Now with the new Chapel replacing the old one, the community will grow in numbers and in Faith. The Construction of this Chapel was completed in a record time of few months only. Since the Diocese decided to have its Chrism Mass here in this place, our Bishop wanted to coin this important occasion with the blessing of this new Church. It was successfully completed and inaugurated and blessed by our Bishop George on the solemn occasion of the Chrism Mass Celebration in the Diocese on 21st March 2013. The presence of so many Priests and Religious from all over the Diocese made the blessing of this Chapel more solemn and prayerful. 10th July, Dambuk, Medo, Miao: The Diocese of Miao extends a warm welcome to the Sistes of St. Joseph of Cluny to Dambuk Mission, the Sisters of St. Joseph of Chambery to Medo, and to the Sisters of Our Lady of Garden to the Kulam Mission in Lazu Parish. We thank Sr. Anna Lepcha, the Provinical of the Cluny Sisters, who were not frightened by the swollen rivers and the snapped roads but daringly brought the Sisters to the Dambuk Mission. Sr. Carmella Chamling is the Superior of the Convent. Srs. Augustina Rai, Petronilla Lepcha and Roshni Rai make up the community. It this first community in our Diocese The Sisters of St. Joseph of Chambery were also accompanied by their Provincial Sr. Lorren to the Medo Mission Station. Sr. Rashmi is the Superior and Srs. Vera Fernandes, Siby Chacko and Prabha Toppo constitute the community. It is their second community in our Diocese, the community in Tezu being the other. The Sisters of Our Lady of Garden too have joined us. They have opened a Community in Kulam Mission Station. Sr. Anjali Karottupalackal is the Superior and Srs. Mamtha Ekka and Reena Bara form the community. 9th July, Deomali: Two Brothers, Xavier and Kiran, from Goa animated the Youths of the Parish from 19 to21 April, 2013. The Brothers helped the Youth to make a good Spiritual Retreat to strengthen their relationship with God. It was an occasion of Spiritual awakening for the youths from Deomali from the neighbouring five villages.
