Recollection for Priests and Women Religious in Miao
14th September, Miao: The Monthly Recollection for the Priests and Woman Religious in Miao area was organized on 14th September at Kristu Jyothi Minor Seminary Hall. Rev. Fr. Joseph guided the Priests and Women Religious gathered for the occasion to make a good recollection. He stressed the importance of prayer in the life of Priests and Religious. “We can be busy with so many social works; but it will have no effects if it is not deeply rooted in prayer. We should never compromise our prayer life with anything else,” he stressed. There was Holy Hour during which the Priests and Religious gathered for the Recollection made their Confession. After the Recollection, there was a short sharing and discussion to fix the next date and venue of Recollection. Fr. Alex is given the responsibility of arranging Recollection from the next month for Miao area. The Recollection came to an end with Fr. 8th Sept, (Margherita) Mia0: A Four-day Annual Retreat was organized for all the Catechists in Miao Diocese in Margherita from 8th – 11th September in Divine Retreat Centre Margherita. The Catechetical Commission of the Diocese of Miao, under the leadership of Fr. Shaji organized the four-day renewal programme for all the Catechists in the Diocese of Miao to animate them to become more committed to their ministry, espcially during this Year of Faith. Bishop George was the Main Celebrant at the inaugural mass. Speaking to the Catechists, he said, “The Church in Arunachal is a Church of the Laity. It is what it is because of your contribution. We need to have the same vigour and commitment that we used to have before to make our Church deeply rooted in the Faith. He also said, “When you go back to your villages after this retreat, you should make our people know the importance of family prayer. We should all give witness to our Faith by words and life. May God bless you all” “We thank our Bishop George for organizing such a beautiful retreat to renew and strengthen our Faith in Christ, especially during this Year of Faith. The Spirit we have received from here will make us more dedicated to the service of bringing people closer to God.” said a Catechist at the end of the Retreat. 8th Sep, Miao: Four Schools in Miao had YCS/YSM (Young Catholic Students / Young Students Movement) Animation Programme from 2rd August to 4th September 2013 Rev. Sr. Agnes, the Regional Director of YCS/YSM, together with Miss Jacqueline from Diphu Diocese was here in Miao Diocese to Introduce and Follow up YCS/YSM in four Schools in Miao Diocese. Sr. Agnes introduced YCS/YSM in Divine Word School Roing from 31st Aug to 1st Sept and formed cells. She then moved to St. Savio School, Kanubari to introduce the same programme for the students. She was there in Kanubari till 3rd September. After introducing the programme in these two schools she moved to Newman School Neotan to follow up the YCS/YSM there. Meanwhile, Fr. Felix was there in Light of the World School, Miao, to follow up the YCS/YSM unit here. The Youth Department of Diocese of Miao thanks Sr. Agnes and her Team for sparing their valuable time to animate the students in our Schools. Thanks to Fr. Rai in Roing, Frs. 8th Sep, (Kharsang) Miao: The Teachers Day was celebrated in all the Schools in the Diocese of Miao on 5th Septmber 2013. The students in the Schools in Miao Diocese planned well in advance to celebrate this day to show their respect for their teachers. In Mother Theresa School in Kharsang the children celebrated this day with a variety of cultural items. Bishop George was the Chief Guest for the occasion. Speaking to the Teachers and Students, he said, “Teachers, please know that you play a vital role in shaping the future of these young mind. More than the parents, you are important to the children, because they spent more time with you in the school.” He also appreciated the students for their talents they exhibited by their singing. He also requested them to respect the teachers. Mr. Koopman, an Aerospace Engineering Student and an avid Photographer from the Netherlands will be with us till the 26th of September, touring all corners of the Diocese to make a documentary on the life and ministry of the Diocese of Miao.
