Welcome to the Diocese – Visitation Sisters of Don Bosco
14th November, 2013, Miao (Roing): The Diocese of Miao extends a warm welcome to the Visitation Sisters of Don Bosco to Bolung Mission in Lower Dibang Valley District. Rev. Srs. Basyrpailin M. Kurkalang and Katini Clare Mao belonging to the Congregation of the Visitation Sisters of Don Bosco (VSDB) reached the Diocese on 23rd September, 2013. They will pioneer the new mission station in Bolung in Lower Dibang Valley District. The Sisters are now staying in Roing under the care of Rev. Fr. Roy SVD as there is no accommodation available for the Sisters in Bolung at the moment. We thank the VSDB Congregation of and these two Sisters in particular for their courage to take up this new mission station. 13th Novemeber, 2013: The Holy Rosary Church in Changlang had Triple Celebration on the 31st October, 2103 as it celebrated the Parish Feast, the School Annual Day and the Conclusion of the Marian Month on the same day. After the Rosary prayer in all the houses of the parishioners, many faithful gathered in the Parish Church for nine days to seek special blessings through the Holy Rosary Novena from 22 to 30 of October. Most Rev. Dr. George Pallipparambil the Bishop of Miao officiated the Holy Mass at 3.30 pm on 31st October. In his homily he emphasized the importance of Holy Rosary Prayer in each house, in each person’s life. Immediately after the Holy Mass, the students, staff, parishioners and parents welcomed all the guests to the temporary auditorium for the cultural activities. The Guests Bishop PK George, Mr. T. Taiju, the local MLA, Ms. Chanchal Yadav IAS, DC Changlang, Mr. Vijay Kumar IPS, SP Changlang and Col. Ashwani Singha, the Commanding Officer, 4th Assam Rifles, officially inaugurated the School Annual Day by kindling the lamp. DDSE Changlang, Mr. K. Taiju Executive Engineer PWD, Principal Higher Secondary School Changlang etc. also blessed us with their valuable presence. Among the many parents present include the many heads of different departments like BDO, DACO, DIO. In her address the DC, Ms. Chanchal Yadav IAS highlighted the quality education the children are getting from Holy Rosary School. The Hon’ble MLA, Mr. T. Taiju, in his speech said, ‘the dream of the Changlang people is realized through the erection of Holy Rosary School’. The SP assured all kinds of support towards the school. Bishop requested the parents to trust the teachers, and requested full cooperation for the betterment of the coming generations MLA and DDSE distributed the prizes for the winners of the various competitions held as part of the school annual day celebrations. Children made the evening colourful with dance numbers and songs. 13th November, 2013, Miao: The Women Commission of the Diocese of Miao organized a Diocese level Women Convention in three places in the Diocese to promote the Year of Faith and help the women to become the agents of Faith. The Women Commission, under the leadership of Sr. Rosamma, the Women Commission coordinator, planned well in advance to help the women in the Diocese to be a part of the Year of Faith Promotion in the Diocese. To make it convenient for all the women in the Diocese, convention was organized in three different places on different dates. For the women group in Tirap District, the three-day convention was organized in St. George’s Parish, Deomali from 25 to 28September, 2013. There were about 220 women from all the Parishes in Tirap District participated in the event. Sr. Ememlda, the women coordinator of the Diocese of Dibrugarh and Sr. Sandra animated the women on the first day with input sessions and sharing. On the second day, the Divine Retreat Team from Margherita led by Rev. Fr. Varghese VC animated the women to help them become stronger in their Faith. Fr. CC Jose, the Rector of the Minor Seminary, Miao was the main celebrant at the concluding day Holy Mass on 28th September. Speaking to the women group, he emphasized the fact that women in society play an important role in its progress and growth. “You have the power to change the society”, he said. The women convention for the women group in the Lohit and Changlang District was organized in Kumari Parish from 11 to 13October, 2013. There were about 200 catholic women from the Districts of Changlang, Lohit and Dibang Valley. Bishop George was solemnized the event on the concluding the day with a very solemn Holy Eucharistic celebration. “Women in the Bible have played a vital role in God’s plan for salvation of all mankind. Just as Mary’s one ‘Yes’ changed the world, you can also change your village, and society at large”, he said, while speaking to the women on the occasion. The third women convention was held in St. Joseph’s Parish, Minthong from 25 to 27 October 2013. Rev. Sr. Anna MSMHC animated the women to realize their Spiritual, Mental and Physical make-up. Rev. Sr. Rosamma spoke to the women on the topic, women can work wonders. Sr. Pramila MSMHC from Naharkatia was also part of the animation team that guided around 250 youth from all over Longding District. 1st November, Miao: The Light of the World School (LWS) in Miao had a YCS/YSM Animation Programme on 31st October, 2013. The YCS/YSM (Young Catholic Students/Young Student Movement) a Student Movement that aims at helping the students become aware of the existing realities of their,school, family and society, to come together in cells of 8 to 12 students to decide and act what they can do to make a difference. It works on a three-fold principle of ‘SEE-JUDE-ACT’. The Class X students from LWS were divided into four cells for group discussion to “see-judge-act” on various issues, directly or indirectly concerning to them. The four cells took up a cleanliness drive to make the campus plastic free and clean. The four cells took up an activity each like collecting plastics, sticks, cleaning the washrooms and the classrooms. Speaking about the experience, Martin W, a student of Class X, said, “I thank Fr. Felix and Miss. Moinem for giving us this opportunity to come together in small cells to do something worthwhile for our school.” “In the beginning we were hesitant to do menial job like cleaning our washrooms, but once we understood the reason why we are doing it, we did it with our whole heart. And it was a joy”, said Poooja, another student of Class X. 31st October, 2013, Miao: The Rosary Month of October concluded with a solemn Marian Procession in all the centres of the Diocese of Miao on 31st October. Here in Miao, the Rosary Month came to a solemn conclusion with a Marian Procession from the general public ground to the Christ the Light Shrine. More than 200 people participated in this prayerful event. A beautifully decorated vehicle with a Marian Statue atop was brought in procession, with children, youth and parents participating in it. During the procession to the Christ the Light Shrine, the congregation recited Rosary and sang Marian Hymns. The handle light procession on the last day of the Rosary Month gave a solemn conclusion to the everyday family rosary that was organized by the Parish Priest, Rev. Fr. George Thazhathel, the Sisters and the Mother group throughout the whole month of October. Fr. Theothimus sdb gave a short message on Mother Mary on the importance of praying to Mary. “We should always pray to Mother Mary, because She is our Mother who always intercedes for us to Her Son.” He added that the way to ‘the Father is Jesus and the way to Jesus is Mary’. Fr.
