Youth Animation in St. Mary’s Church, Longo

5th August, Longo: The Youth in St. Mary’s Parish, Longo, came together for a three-day animation programme from 23 to 25 May, 2013 at the Parish Church under the leadership Fr. Jose, the Parish Priest in Longo. To promote the Year of Faith, the Fathers in Longo organized an Animation programme for the Youth to help them grow in the Faith and help others to do the same. The Youth were divided into few groups and were given different topics to discuss and come up with the possible solutions to the problems facing them personally and the society. It helped them have a look at themselves and become aware of the various problems that are prevalent among them. They said, “Drugs and other addictions are taking the Youth away from the Church and places them at the risk of losing themselves. Now is the time to change.” Bishop George, speaking to the Youth on the concluding day of the Animation, reiterated the fact, “You are the Future. The Society needs you and the Church needs you.” He also encouraged the Youth to become agents of change in the Society that needs them. The Animation concluded with a solemn Eucharistic Celebration by Bishop George with Fr. Jose Thakarappallil MF, the Parish Priest and Fr. Jose SDB from Borduria Parish. Congratulations to Fr. Lohit District Youth Convention Organized in Kumari

5th August, Kumari, Namsai: A three-day Youth Convention was organized for the Youth of Lohit District in Kumari Parish from 18 to 20 May 2013. The three day animation programme saw nearly 200 youth from Lohit District, discussing about the various existing challenges pertaining to them and finding out ways to tackle them too. The Youth were divided in to four groups and different new topics were given to them to discuss in groups. Rev. Fr. Bosco from Itanagar Diocese the main resource person told the Youth, their future is not something that come to them, but it I their today that makes their future. Hon’ble Finance Minister, Govt. of Arunachal Pradesh, Mr. Chowna Mein was the Chief Guest at the concluding day’s celebrations and Hon’ble Nangsati Mein, MLA from Namsai was the Guest of Honour. He told the Youth, “Dream Big and have a higher goal in life.” Their presence was a big encouragement to the participants. Rt. Rev. George, the Bishop of Miao, was the main celebrant on the concluding day Eucharistic celebration. He told the youth to live their today better to make their tomorrow better. “Be alert and open your eyes to see the challenges and opportunities that the society has and prepare well for your tomorrow,” he said while speaking to the youth. Rev Sr. Sheetal CCV from Bordumsa, the Youth Coordinator of the Diocese was there to help in the proceedings. She told the Youth to be deeply rooted in Faith and give witness to it wherever they are. Congratulations to Fr. Thomas Erambil for organizing this mega convention. Bishop Meets Pope Francis

1st August, Miao: Bishop George met Pope Francis and Cardinal Amatho in Rome on June 26, 2013 to request for the speedy process for the Cause of Matyrdom for Rev. Frs. Krick and Bourry, together with Arch Bishop Emeritus Thomas Menamparambil SDB. Frs. Krick and Bourry were French Missionaries who were killed by a tribal Chief in Somme village in Lohit District. Diocese of Miao, under the initiative of Bishop George, took up the cause of martyrdom for these two great missionaries who spread the first seed of Christianity in Arunachal Pradesh. The Diocese is making sincere prayers for these two Servants of God. Facilitating Agricultural Regeneration Measures (FARM) Launched

30th July, Sevakendra, Miao: Seva Kendra East Arunachal, the Social Service wing of Miao Diocese, launched FARM Northeast (Facilitating Agriculture Regeneration Measures) at Rajanagar under Bordumsa Circle of Changlang district. FARM is a community-led eco-friendly project, an effort by Seva Kendra to bring socioeconomic empowerment and to create food security by reviving traditional agricultural practices, which would be implemented in 10 selected villages of Miao and Bordumsa blocks.  It also endeavors in creating networks between the farmers and government agencies so that they can benefit from available schemes and funds meant for them. Speaking on the occasion after officially launching the program, chief guest Kemto Riba, the ADC of  Bordumsa lauded Seva Kendra for the effort and for wisely choosing the two blocks for the project.  Stressing on the importance of sustainable farming system, he encouraged the farmers to go for multi-cropping and to implement new farming ideas in the field. Earlier, while welcoming the invited dignitaries and participants from the selected 20 villages, Sr. Rincy Kozhimala, Director Seva Kendra informed them that farmer–clubs will be formed in the proposed villages, which is a new concept for the area, and said that it will help in building better linkages with the government agencies. The programme was inaugurated and graced by Rt. Rev. George Pallamparambil, Bishop of Miao, Kemto Riba, the ADC of Bordumsa. The ZPM of Miao, Jawkhong Singpho,  BDO Bordumsa, Tamo Riba and senior officials from Agriculture and Horticulture departments were also present for the event and they all greeted the project and the government officials were ready to cooperate to make it more successful.
