Teachers Day Celebrated in Newman School Neotan

The students of Neman School, Neotan celebrated their Teachers’ Day with a wide variety of cultural programmes on 5th September, 2015, at their school hall.  September 5 is celebrated as Teachers’ Day all over India. The students of Neman School in Neotan village too joined in the celebration of this day with singing and dancing, thanking and praying for their teachers. “It is a day given to us to thank our teachers for all the sacrifice they make to make us better and good leaders for our society”, said Manthai Losu of Class X. Fr. Subin Thomas from Minor Seminary Miao was the Chief Gust for today’s event and requested the students to emulate the ‘example of Mother Teresa as today is also the Feast Day of Mother Teresa.’ “Whatever you need to know is all there. The teachers only help you to realize it. They help you to bring the best out of you for your good and you must respect them and cooperate with them”, he added.  Mr. Homin Mossang, the teachers’ representative thanked the students for making them feel special on Teachers’ Day. Incessant Rain Disturbs Normal Life in Miao

The incessant rain for the last five days has disturbed the normal life of all the people here in and around Miao. The rain that started last Friday is causing flood and creating havoc for all in this part of our Country. As the news is coming in, we learn that most of our centres in the Diocese have been flooded and the children in our boardings have been moved to safety. The Sevakendra Training Centre at Nampahi I is floating in the water. The classes for the trainees have been suspended for now. “We are very sacred. If the rain does not stop today the water will get into our living areas”, said Miss Junaki, the Trainer. “We kept awake the whole last night worried and scared for the trainees. We hope and pray the situation improves soon”, added the Trainer. People are not able to get out of their homes to buy their daily commodities or to go to their work place. St. Monica’s Feast Celebrated as Mothers’ Day at Kolam

The Feast of St. Monica was celebrated as Mothers’ Day in Kolam Parish on 28th August 2015.\ Fr. Anil MoC, the Parish Priest together with the Sisters of Our Lady of Garden organize a beautiful mothers’ day celebration to mark the Feast of St. Monica whose prayer and fasting is attributed to the conversion of St. Augustine. “We wanted to make this day special for all the mothers in the Parish. They go about doing their daily work without any expectation. We wanted to thank them for what they are through this celebration’, said Fr. Anil. The day began with a recollection and confession and Adoration for all the mothers in the Parish. In the the afternoon, there was different games and group activities held for them. Bicentenary of Don Bosco Birth Anniversary Celebrated in Rajanagar

The 200th Birth Anniversary of Don Bosco was celebrated with cultural programmes, pilgrimage and competition across the Diocese of Miao. Here in Rajanagar, Fr. Shaji Valiaparambil SDB organized a solemn Concluding Ceremony to the event with Holy Mass and Cultural Programmes on 16th August. Bishop George was the Main Celebrant at the concluding ceremony Holy Mass on this day. “I am happy to be with you on this day”, he said. He also blessed the Don Bosco Boarding for the boys after the Holy Mass. Twin Celebration of Feast of Assumption and Independence Day in Miao

August 15 is a very important day as Catholic and as Indian for us all. The day is celebrated with patriotism and religious fervour all over the Diocese. All the schools in the Diocese had flag hoisting and other patriotic events to mark the 69th Independence Day of our Country. The day also saw colourful commemoration of the Feast of Assumption of Mother Mary. The twin celebrations were marked with glowing tribute the freedom fighters who sacrificed their life for the freedom of our Country, cultural programmes to celebrate its diverse and rich culture and reflection on Mother Mary’s assumption into Heaven Body and Soul, all over the Diocese.
