Newman Educational Society Celebrates Radiance 2015
The Newman Educational Society (NES), the educational wing of the Diocese of Miao organized Radiance 2015, an inter-school cultural festival, at Savio School, Kanubari, Longding District of Arunachal Pradesh from 19 to 22 October, 2015.
The NES aims at providing a platform for students to exhibit their talent in arts, culture and sports every year. To achieve this aim, the NES has come up with the concept of Radiance, an inter-school festival to celebrate the talents in the field of arts, culture and sports.
There were 23 schools this year participating in the event, held at the newly built hall of St. John’s Church, Kanubari. There were competitions of different kinds, like patriotic singing, folk dance, fancy dress, skit, elocution, painting, and pencil drawing, held for three days. All the students participated with a competitive spirit. “The event was not only give a platform to the students but also to celebrate the diverse culture and tradition of Arunachal Pradesh”, said one of the organizers of the event.
Speaking on the occasion, Bishop George Pallipparambil, Bishop of Miao and the President of NES, exhorted the students to have deep love for their culture and environment. “We must always thank God for the gift of nature. In the context of all the deforestation happening all around, I appeal to you to be more caring for the nature and promoters of green. We must all stop hunting and plant more trees to maintain the balance of ecology”, he stressed. Congratulating the organizers, Fr. Thomas Erambil, Secretary NES and his team, he asked the students to make Radiance an event to celebrate and respect the diverse culture of Arunachal Pradesh.
It was a treat to the eyes to see the students in different tribal attire in one place. The Holy Rosary School Changlang emerged as the overall champion of Radiance 2015. The host school, St. Savio, Kanubari and Krick and Bourry Memorial School, Tezu, secured the second and third position respectively.
