News Round-Up from Longding Mission

In the month of October, Rosary Prayer was conducted in every home of the parish by Fellowship Groups located in 12 colonies. Miss Chamai Rajkumari of Deomali came to animate prayer session in the parish and preached at Longding, Zedua, Senua and Longsom. She visited many families and prayed over the sick. She spoke at the Women’s convention on 10th October, on the values of a Christian family. In an effort to bring awareness about the growing drug abuse in the area, three Churches of Longding township, (Catholic Church, Revival Church, Baptist Church) in collaboration with 4th Battalion of Sikh Regiment organized a combined awareness program cum rally against drug sale and drug abuse, for the youth and all members of the society on 14th November 2015. Leaders of these institutions gave enlightening talks at the public square. Over 500 people belonging to all churches participated in it. Spiritual Revival Ministry team from Bangalore arrived at Longding for conducting retreats at Chanu, Longsom and Longding. The youth of Longding parish went for a picnic to Don Bosco, Zedua on 11th November. (Fr. Children Raise Fund to Help Poor Children to Celebrate Children’s Day

To inculcate a spirit of sharing and to nurture a sense of solidarity, the children in Newman School Neotan celebrated Children’s Day as Holy Childhood Day with fund raising to help the poor children on 14 November 2015. The children in Newman School Neotan wanted to celebrate Children’s Day this year with a difference. They together with their teachers organized a fancy fete with a variety of fun games. The children took active part in it and contributed generously to raise fund for the poor children. “I am so happy today that I got a chance to help a poor child with my little contribution”, said Cecilia Mossang of Class X, beaming with joy. Fr. Felix Anthony, the Principal of the school, appreciated and thanked the students for their generous expression of solidarity with poor children. The children too expressed their joy at having got an opportunity to celebrate Children’s Day with the difference this year. The teachers of Newman School put up a colourful cultural programme to entertain the children prior to the fancy fete. Proclamation Commission Organizes a Meeting for Priests and Religious at Tinsukia

  The Commission for Evangelization organized a two-day animation programme for the Priests and Religious for effective running of Boardings at Kristu Jyothi Niwas Tinsukia on 10 and 11 November 2015. There was a total of 30 Participants for the meeting, animated by Rev. Fr. Johny Epan SDB. All the participants were happy that they attended this meeting. Bishop George, who was present for the meeting thanked the participants for being present for the meeting and requested them to apply the learning from this meeting in the mission field. St. Alphonsa School Gunangar gets a New School Building

The students and thier parents of St. Alphonsa School Gunanagar was visibly happy as they witnessed the blessing of their new school building on 9th November 2015 in the august presence of guests and dignitaries from Gunanagar area. Respected Mr. Chow Ragingda Namshum, who donated the land for the construction of this school was the Chief Guest on this important day. He was very happy to see his dream of having a school on his land becoming reality. “I am overwhelmed today to see this school. I appreciate all the great works Sr. Anjali and other Sisters are doing here. I would like to sponsor 10 poor children of this school from the next academic year”, he said. Mr. Thomas Pertin, OC of Chowngkham Cirle was happy to see present for the occasion and he too appreciated the good quality education the schools is imparting to the children on Gunanagar area. News Round Up from Rajanagar Parish

One day Seminar for women: One day seminar was held on 20th September for the women of the parish. There were 260 participants. It was conducted under the leadership of Sr. Annie Sebastian SMI along with sr. Gina SMI and Sr. Sarojini SMI. The resources persons were Mr. Vincent Thomas of CFC. Sr. Hemavati, Sr. Jessy, Sr. Vidya and Sr. Betsi from Divine centre Margherita. The topics were centred around health and hygiene, abortion and AIDS, family care, care of body and soul etc. The topics were aided by video clips and discussions. The Holy Mass was presided over by Fr. Nabor Dungdung SDB. VITAMMIN A distribution in Don Bosco School: Sr. Annie and her health workers conducted an awareness programme on Vit. A. In India 25 lakhs children suffer from Vit. A deficiency. It causes mainly night blindness. They distributed Vit. A drops to 350 children in the school – along with medicine for worms. Parents and teachers also attended the programme. Month of Rosary Celebrated: Month of Rosary was celebrated solemnly in all the villages concluding with Marian procession. In Rajanagar village People took out a procession from the village to the grotto. In Kherem Mura village People made the way through the village road in procession under the guidance of Sr. Jina SMI and Sr. Sarojini SMI who stayed with the people for two weeks animating and visiting the families. They prepared 20 children for first communion, 11 couples for marriage blessing and 26 new adult baptisms. One day Catechists and village leaders’ seminar: One day village catechists and village leaders seminar was held in Rajanagar on 6th November. The programme commenced with two hours of Praise, worship and Adoration. They were given inputs on Biblical themes that are suitable for their life situation. We had discussions based on St. Paul’s letters, superstitious beliefs, the challenge to be a catechist etc. The programme concluded with Holy Mass presided over by Fr. Shaji V. SDB. (Fr.
