Marriage Preparation Course held at Pongchao Mission
St. Thomas Mission in Pongchao organized a three-day Marriage Preparation Course at the village Church from 23 to 25 October 2015. Total of 34 young boys and girls participated in the programme. Village Catechist Mr. James, Village Women Catechist Mrs. Apha wangsu and Fr. Joy Manikathan from Longding Parish were the resource persons for the occasion. The programme concluded with Gospel singing competition and certificate were distributed to the participants at the end of the programme. (Fr. St. Mary’s School in Namsai held its first School Annual Day on 9th November 2015 with a colourful cultural programme by the students at the newly built school auditorium. Respected Deputy Commissioner of Namsai District, Mr. R. K. Sharma, CRPF Captian Namsai Col. Anil Kumar, Tax and Excise Director (Retired) Mr. Tape Bagre CRPF Captain Mr. Thomas Varghese and a host of other dignitaries were present for the programme together with Bishop George. Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Sharma appreciated the great work St. Mary’s School is doing in Namasi area. “The cultural programmes and the confidence of the children on the stage highlights the quality education this school imparts to the children”, he said. Bishop George also appreciated the students for the wide variety of cultural programmes and advice them to pay more attention to learning their daily lessons apart from the singing and dancing. The Feast of their Patron Saint, St. Jude, the Apostle was celebrated with a solemn Eucharistic Procession around the town in Diyun Parish on 28th October 2015. The Parish in Diyun Mission is dedicated to St. Jude the Apostle. On the Feast Day of their Patron, the faithful, the catholic leaders the Fathers and Sisters working in the Mission organized a solemn Eucharistic procession around Diyun town, in which many people of other faith also participated. There was a huge gathering of people for the procession and for the programmes that followed. Bishop George was present for the event and was happy to see a large number of people gathered for the procession from Diyun. The Eucharistic Procession went around Diyun town came to conclude at the Church dedicated to St. Jude. Frs. Rajesh, the Parish Priest and his team planned and arranged everything beautifully for the solemn Eucharistic Procession and for the Feast of their Patron. All Souls’ Day was celebrated in the Chopnu Village of Kanubari Parish on 2nd November 2015 with a celebration of Holy Mass for all the souls departed and blessing of the cemeteries here. On the Feast of All Souls Day, Bishop George was there bless the Cemeteries in the village prior to a Solemn Holy Mass in which 210 people received the Sacrament of Confirmation and 36 children received First Holy Communion. Bishop George reminded the people of the importance of living life based on the Gospel values to be united with God on the occasion.
