Miao Diocese Celebrates 10th Anniversary & Jubilee of Mercy for Youth
The Diocese of Miao with its Headquarters in Miao Changlang District celebrated its 10th Anniversary of its glorious existence and the Jubilee of Mercy for Youth with a grand Youth Convention at Don Bosco School Kheti Tirap District of Arunachal Pradesh from 27 to 29 May 2016. Miao Diocese that caters to the all-round development of people in East Arunachal Pradesh is celebrating its 10th Anniversary together with the celebration of Jubilee of Mercy with the Universal Church with a series of events for different groups of people in this party of the country. The first of this series was a grand Catholic Youth Convention held at Don Bosco School Ground at Kheti village Tirap District. Speaking on the concluding day programme, Mr. Riba, EAC Judicial Tirap District, lamented the lack of sufficient role models for the youth in the society. “You must motivate yourself, and acquire the leadership qualities so that you can be role models for the future generation”, he said. There were 900 youth from all the eight districts of east Arunachal Pradesh attending the three-day event. The sharing by Catholic Youth leaders on the second day of the convention was the highlight of the event. Miss Rita Lowang , HOD Social Work , RGU, Itangar, from Luthong village, shared with the youth her success story and advised them to accept and love themselves first. She said, “Youth from our districts lack opportunity and confidence. But you should face the situation and overcome your fear.” Mr. Nepha Wangsa , Gold Medalist in Political Science from Ngissa village of Longding District told the youth to stop dropping-out. “Poverty should never be an excuse for you to drop-out from schooling. I am from a humble family myself and if you have the desire and determination to succeed in life nothing would stop you”, he added. Dr. Wanglit Mongchan another scholar from Borduria village of Tirap District said your commitment to succeed combined with a disciplined life and prayer is the ‘success mantra’. All the youth enjoyed all the sessions of the conventions and were grateful to the organizing committee for organizing such a useful convention for them in Tirap District for the first time. Mr. L. Wanglet, Ex-Minister Gov. of Arunachal Pradesh too addressed the youth and explained to them to keep up the importance of culture in life. Citing the example of Ms. Oseola McCarty, a washerwoman, who became a great example for iconic leadership, exhorted all the youth to be leaders even without portfolios. Mr. Tajom Aboh, Parliamentary Secretary and Ex-Minister Gov. of Arunachal Pradesh too addressed the youth during the convention. The youth also had a group sharing session in which everyone participated actively and came up with valuable suggestions to become leaders of the society. Bishop George Pallipparambil SDB, the Bishop of Miao and the person who envisioned such an event sent his greetings and blessings to all the youth present for the convention. He said, “The youth leaders who shared their success stories are examples of the contribution of the Diocese of Miao to the society over the last 10 years. As part of the Extraordinary Jubilee of Mercy celebrations in the Diocese of Miao, a week long Retreat was organized for all the Catechists in the Diocese from 25 to 29 April 2016 at Divine Renewal Retreat Centre, Margehrita. With the sole aim of making everyone ‘to be merciful like the Father’, Bishop George has organized several renewal programmes for different groups in the Diocese. A Retreat for all the Catechists was held at Margherita from 25 to 29 April, in which around 350 Catechists, woman leaders and youth leaders participated. Fr. Boby VC and his Renewal Team from Margherita Retreat Centre help all the participants understand the Mercy of God, Jesus Christ, and also exhorted everyone to be ‘merciful like the Father’. Bishop George celebrated Mass for the Catechists on 28 April and also talked to every Catechist present for the Retreat. He aslo held a meeting of all the Catechists on 29 April to listen to their concern for the growth the Church in the remote corners of the Diocese. “I am so happy to be with you today. A Convent for the Sacred Heart Sisters who will be taking care of the near-complete Krick and Bourry Hospital at Injan was blessed and inaugurated on 14 April 2016 by Mrs. Longri, Zilla Parishad Member, Khrsang. This is a landmark event in the history of the Diocese of Miao as the hospital which has been under construction for the last few years is nearing completion. The first step towards this is a moving in of a group of Sacred Heart Sisters from Pala Province. The new convent for the hospital community sisters was blessed and inaugurated on 14 April. Mrs. Longri expressed her joy at this new milestone of the Diocese of Miao. “Everyone has been asking when this hospital will start functioning. Lack of proper medical facility in our area is a concern for all of us. And it was a huge relief for the people of this area to see a good hospital in this area”, she said speaking on the occasion. “I am very happy the convent is inaugurated today and we all hope that the new hospital will be a reality soon”, she added. Sr. Nirmala SH, the Lab Technician and Sr. Elizabeth SH, trained nurse will form the new hospital community at Injan with Sr. Alphonsamma SH as Superior of the House. Bishop George and the neighbouring community gathered for the event prayed for God’s blessing and mercy to have the hospital functioning within this year. The beautiful hospital building is ready. The Diocese of Miao appeals to all its friends to help get the instruments necessary to get the hospital ready. read moreWomen and Mercy – Women Convention held at Rajanagar
A Parish level women convention was Organized at St. Joseph’s Church, Rajanagar on 16-17 April 2016 with the theme ‘Women and Mercy’ to celebrate the Extraordinary Jubilee of Mercy. To celebrate and participate in the Jubilee of Mercy with the Universal Church, the Diocese of Miao has drawn a series of programmes for different groups. A two-day special animation programme for women was organized in Rajanagar Parish on 16 and 17 April 2016 at the parish hall. The animation team led by Sr. Felicita MSMHC from Tinsukia kept alive around 450 women from all the villages of Rajanagar Parish. A few women from Kumari Parish also participated in it. Speaking at the inaugural function, Fr. Felix Anthony, highlighted the role of Mother Mary in God’s plan to reveal His Merciful Face in Jesus of Nazareth. “Jesus of Nazareth is the merciful face of the Father and Mother Mary is the Mother of Mercy, Jesus Christ”, he said explaining the Jubilee of Mercy of the Universal Church to the participants. As mother and women ‘you need to radiate the mercy of God during this Jubilee of Mercy and be merciful as the Heavenly Father is merciful, he added. Dr. Kamngun Mongchan from Bordumsa Primary Health Centre was another main speaker for the event. She advised the women with various health tips to be healthy and safe. The Rajanagar woman association with the help of Fr. Shaji SDB, the Parish Priest and his companion Fr. Nabor SDB organized everything so very meticulously to make the event successful one for all. The incessant rain did not dampen the enthusiasm of the participants. Holy Mass by Rev. Fr. “It was great to see our young boys and girls praying sincerely for three days in one place”, said Mr. Akham Wangnow of Chinkoi village summarizing the three-day Dadam Parish youth convention held at Chinkoi village from 6 to 8 April 2016. About 150 youth from the four villages of Dadam Parish were animated for three days at the village Church in Chinkoi by Rev. Sr, Regina MSMHC, the North East Regional Youth Director, Guwahati and Fr. Felix. The youth were divided into small groups for better animation and were involved in workshops and group discussions on topics pertaining to them. The Youth enjoyed the sessions on Church History, Jubilee of Mercy and Sacraments. The Eucharistic Procession and Adoration on the last day gave a fitting conclusion to the Convention. “I feel so happy to have come for this convention. Unlike previous conventions, I not only sang and danced but also prayed and prayed really well”, said Wakhian Hakhun from Chinkoi village, speaking about his experience. The willingness of the youth to learn more was evident from their being punctual for all the sessions. “I am happy to learn many new things from this convention. I particularly enjoyed the session on Church History”, said Monica Nokbi from Hukhan village. The youth in Chinkoi village had worked hard round-the-clock to make the event memorable for all the youth from Hukhan, Mokhtua and Dadam villages. The village leaders and the women group of Chinkoi village too helped the youth with accommodation and food. Fr.
