Summer Computer and English Coaching at Pongchao Mission
A computer and English coaching class was organized at St. Thomas Mission, Pongchao from 17 April to 18 May 2017 for the youth around the Pongchao misson. Summer vacation is an action packed time for our Diocese as a lot of activities get organized for the students and youth to help them spend their long summer holidays usefully. We wanted to make youth spend their holidays more meaningfully and so we organized this English and Computer coaching for them, said Fr. Tony, the Parish Priest of the Pongchao Mission. There were a total of 25 youth attending the coaching and all expressed joy having spent their free time productively. The month of May also saw a series of events organized in Pongchao. There were Marriage Preparatory classes, Catechism for First Holy Communion and Colony-wise Rosary service conducted through out the month of May. Congratulations to Fr. Tony, Fr. The four Sisters of Franciscan Clarist Congregation (FCC) of Noida Province, residing at Chowngkham moved to their new convent on 4 May 2017. The FCC sisters were living in a guest house of Mr. Rajinda Namshoom, the Chief of Chowngkham, for the last two years. Mr. Namshoom was kind and generous to let them use his guest house for free. Bishop George, blessing the new convent, thanked Mr. Namshoom and all the kind donors, whose kindness made this new convent a reality. 4 May 2017 was a different day for the men folks at Mary Help of Christians Church, Borduria. Aorund 180 men from around the Parish had a day-long animation, healing prayers, and confession. Fr. Pradeep SDB, the Parish Priest, made this meaningful day for men and said that more often we tend to overlook the spiritual aspect of our men in the Church. Event like this makes our men pray and we can see them actually praying. Bro. John Bagh and his team from Dibrugarh animated the men and led them to make meaningful confession. read moreDivine Mercy Church Blessed at Kamakyapur of Diyun Parish
The people in Kamakhyapur, a small village under Diyun Parish, had all the reason to be happy on 26 April 2017 as their new Church was blessed and inaugurated by Bishop George. The old bamboo Church was partially damaged by the cyclone on 28 April 2016. Fr. Rajesh, the Parish Priest, prayed to God for God’s Mercy and for a new Church in the same place. His prayers were answered in the form of this new Church. Hence, the church is named Divine Mercy Church. Fr. Balashoui, Chancellor of Archdiocese of Visakhapatnam, who was present for the blessing, contributed much to the construction of this new Church. Mr. Rupert Paul from Dubai and Mr. Somlung Mossang from Miao also made contributions to this new Church. The event was made meaningful by the presence of representatives from all church denominations around Diyun Circle and also with the presence of brothers and sisters from Buddhist community. Congratulations to Fr. Rajesh Chinthada. This is the second new village Church he was able to construct for the people of the parish within 2 years.
