Recollection for Priests and Religious in Miao
Recollection for Priests and Religious working in the Diocese of Miao is a regular event every month. In the month of March too Priests and Religious from different parts of the Diocese came together in different places for their monthly recollection, followed by the Sacrament of Reconciliation. The Changlang District unit came together at St. Mary’s Convent in Miao on 8th March, 2014. The recollection talk was given by Rev. Fr. Jalumru Raju MPC from Christ the Light Seminary Miao. The day being the International Women’s Day, he based his theme on Jesus’ concern for the women and the vocation of women. He also highlighted the life and example of Pope Francis to drive home the need to be simple and humble servants in serving the people under our care. He used powerpoints and video clips to highlight how Jesus always supported women. The talk was followed by Eucharistic Adoration and Confession. There were 23 participants from Miao, Changlang, Neotan and Kharsang. read moreInternational Women’s Day Celebrated in Miao
The International Women’s Day was celebrated on 8th March 2014 in many centres of our Diocese with rally and awareness programme on topics pertaining to women in Miao Diocese. In Miao, the Women’s Day was celebrated in Government Circuit House Miao. It was organized by Arunachal Pradesh Women’s Welfare Society in collaboration with Seva Kendra Arunachal East. The event began with a rally from the Jagun – Miao road and ending at the Circuit House in Upper Miao. Women gathered for the occasion came dressed in their own traditional dress, adding beauty to the rally. The theme of the day was “Equality for Women is Progress for All”. 670 women participated in the celebration. Many guests were invited to encourage the women for the celebrations. Invitees emphasized on different issues like higher education for the girl child, ending violence against women, political participation and leadership, economic empowerment, different schemes and increased the awareness in order to fight against the injustice to women. Geology and Mining minister Sri. Kamlung Mosang was the Chief Guest and he spoke about the Role of women in the family and the society. He also highlighted the need to have girl’s education. Cultural presentation from different villages made day more beautiful. Women took active part in the games organized by Seva Kendra. Similar programme was organized in Tezu, Senua and Diyun Parishes. The programme was concluded with the women group thanking the organizers of the event for bringing them together to address the key issues affecting them every day. The Sacred Heart Parish in Kolam inaugurated the Year of the Family with procession on 8th January 2014. The Catholic community of Tutsa tribe from Lazu circle of Tirap District is one of the most vibrant communities of the Diocese. Fr. Anil, the Parish Priest and Fr. Mani and the new community of the Sisters of our Lady of Garden gathered all the Catholics of the Parish from Kolam and other substations on 8th January for the procession to mark the inauguration of the Year of the Family in their Parish. The Procession went around the whole village from the with the school children and the Sisters leading the people in prayers and hymns and Rosary. The Catholic faithful form Kothung, Tunjan, Tutnyu and Varangra were also present for the event. “This event teaches us the important of family. The Wakka Circle Catholic Youth convention was held from 20 to 23 February 2014 in Chop Village. The three-day event brought together near about 400 youth from 10 villages of Wakka circle under Ngissa Parish. The event began with a Prayer service and introduction of the delegates and resource persons on 2oth February. Fr. George Pareman CM invoked the blessing of the Holy Spirit on each delegates gathered for the convention. Bishop George Pallipparambil speaking at the concluding day ceremony said to the youth, “Do not look for shortcuts in life. Only hardwork and dedication will give us a good life.” Citing the example of Hon’ble Honchun MLA, who was present for the event, he said, “Hon’ble Honchun could become an MLA because he walked for miles from Pongchau to Tezu to complete his studies. His example should encourage to work hard to succeed in life. “Mr. Honchun, Hon’ble MLA also echoed the same thought of Bishop George. Dr. Shoy form Wakka Block Health Centre in Wakka took a class on Health and Hygiene. Fr. Felix took sessions on the ill effects of drug abuse. He also took a session on the seven Sacraments. He motivated the students with the help of group games and movie clips. Miss Senlih Wangsu explained to the youth about the importance of education and the various government schemes available for them. Many competitions were organized for the active participation of all. The Children of St. Patrick School Dambuk experienced joy and happiness on February 14, 2014, as Holy Childhood Day was observed in the campus, with some creative games and sports both for entertainment and for making the children know about the significance of the day. Fr. Joseph Sartho explained to the children about the significance of the day and made the children to come to the decision to have an attitude to contribute for the unprivileged, deprived, alienated, abandoned and orphan children in other parts of the world. Creative games and sports were conducted under the leadership of Srs. Carmela and Petronila along with Mr. Christopher, Miss. Menja and Miss. Ranu. Children enjoyed to the maximum and appreciated the programme. The children said that they would contribute the money they got as prizes from public leaders and villagers during their Carol singing and public programmes. They also promised that they will inform their parents to contribute for the welfare of other less privileged children. There was a small valedictory function arranged under the chairmanship of Mr. Baling Gamno, the Vice Principal of the Government Higher Secondary School along with the Chief Guest Mr. Guddu Prajapathy, the Junior Engineer of the GREF and Special Invitee Mr. Karame Menjo, a parent. Prizes were distributed to the winner students and a fellow ship meal was shared by The Holy Childhood Day also celebrated in St. Jude’s School, Diyun, Kolam and many other centers in the Diocese throughout the month of February.
