Miao Diocese gets new Auxiliary Bishop
Miao Diocese gets a new Auxiliary Bishop. Holy Father has appointed Rev. Fr. Dennis Panipitchai SDB as its Auxiliary Bishop of Miao Diocese. This appointment was made public in Rome on Friday, 8th June, 2018, at noon local time, corresponding to 15:30 hours, Indian Standard Time. Here in Miao it was made public by Dr. George Pallipparambil SDB of Miao Diocese, at the Bishops’s House in Miao in the presence of Most. Rev. Joseph Aind, Bishop of Dirbrugarh Diocese and, Rev. Sr. Elizabeth George FMA, the Provincial Superior of Guwahati, who were present in Miao for their Golden Jubilee celebrations along with host of Priests and Religious from around the Diocese. Rev. Fr. Dennis Panipitchai, SDB, was born in Colachel, in the Diocese of Kottar (Tamil Nadu), on 27th July, 1958. After attending St. Mary’s Parish School in Colachel, in 1976 he entered the pre-novitiate of the Salesians in Shillong, and there he did his novitiate in 1979. On 24th May, 1980, he made his first profession as a simple brother. Later he felt the call to priesthood and did his philosophy formation at Divyadaan Salesian Institute of Philosophy, Nashik. He continued with theology at Sacred Heart Theological College, Shillong. He obtained a Master’s degree in Theology and in a civil subject. After making his solemn profession, on the same day he was ordained Priest, on 27th December, 1991. He served in the following ministries: Dean of Studies, Salesian pre-novitiate, Rua Home, Jorhat, Dibrugarh (1992-1995); Administrator of Don Bosco Bible School, Tinsukia, Diocese of Dibrugarh (1995-1997); In-charge of Don Bosco School, Borduria, now in the Diocese of Miao (1998-2000); Principal of Don Bosco School, Miao and Assistant Priest in the same Parish, Archdiocese of Imphal (2001-2004); Parish Priest at Mary Help of Christians Church, Borduria, now in the Diocese of Miao (2004-2009); Principal of Don Bosco School, Kohima (2009-2015). Since 2015 he is Parish Priest of Mary Immaculate Parish, Chingmeirong, in the Archdiocese of Imphal. Since 2012 he is also Provincial Counselior. Fr. Dennis is currently the Salesain Novice Master in Kohima, Nagaland. The Episcopal Ordination of the Auxiliary Bishop-elect has will be held on 2 August 2018 at Mary Help of Christians Church, Borduria, the first Church in Arunachal Pradesh, and it is also 25th anniversary of the visit of St. Mother Teresa of Kolkata to this village in Tirap District of Arunachal Pradesh. The Diocese of Miao extends a very warm welcome to the four Sacred Heart Sisters of Delhi Province. The four sisters are working in Wakka Mission in Longding District of Arunachal Pradesh. Wakka is the last centre of the Diocese bordering Myanmar, that caters to the educational, healthcare, developmental needs of the Wanchos, one of the biggest tribes in east Arunachal Pradesh. It is also the furthest mission from Tinsukia, a small township in the neighbouring state of Assam, a lifeline-town for Miao Diocese. Wakka Mission is manned by the Congregation of Missions (CM) Fathers, under the leadership of a veteran missionary, Rev. Fr. George Pareman. Seva Kandra Arunachal East observed world environment day on 5th June 2018, with the theme, “Beat Plastic Pollution”. Around 150 people gathered from various village of Namphai circle. Circle Officer from Namphai, Namrata Bhat was the chief guest of the event. On her speech, she urged people to reduce the use of plastic, instead of plastic we should use hand made crafts in our daily life. She also said that, though we can not solve the global warming, we can reduce the global warming, if we are determined to do so. Saying if we cut down one tree, we should plant ten trees to preserved our environment. Director of SKAE, thank all the people gathered on the occasion, saying our country has been increasing in plastic pollution, air pollution and water scarcity day by day. We need to think our future. Days will be not far even our people will suffer due to water scarcity and unbearable air pollution. Mr. Bennyson, senior staff from SKAE, introduced about the world environment Day observed world wide, he informed the audience that world environment day is being observed since 1974. He said that though this program is small but we we are joining with the world. Sister Pushpa, Superior of Little Flower Convent, said that everyone need basic needs for our daily life from our environment, but if we do not preserve our environment, what will happen to our future. Saying, we can see that within five years how our land is changing to barren land, people are busy only in own business, doing deforestation, but from our path what we can do to our nature. In conclusion, she asked people to vow themselves to plant trees and reduce the use of plastic in their daily life. Lastly, Mr. Mintu senior staff thank all the people present on the event. In an effort to reduce the infant mortality and morbidity in Arunachal Pradesh, Seva Kendra Arunachal East (SKAE) conducted a fortnight-long refresher course for its nurses from 15-30 May at Krick and Bourry Memorial Hospital (KBMH), Injan, Changlang District. Arunachal Pradesh, the largest north eastern state, ranks fourth in highest mortality rate in North East India, according to NITI Ayog updated data. SKAE, the social service wing of the Diocese of Miao, brought together its nurses serving in 17 Primary Health centres in the 160 interior villages of eastern part of Arunachal Pradesh to tackle the issue. Bishop George inaugurating the refresher course appreciated the nurses and Rev. Sr. Rincy, the Director of SKAE for their selfless service in the last villages of Arunachal Pradesh. “You render your service in places where roads and electricity have not yet reached. That you work without expecting to be appreciated makes your service a true service to humanity” he said to the 15 nurses from the eight districts of eastern part of Arunachal. Dr. Rose Tom, the Gynecologist and Sr. Elizabeth, the Chief Nurses at KBMH, the main resource persons for the course, explained to the nurses that a proper and guided ante-natal care to the expectant mothers would mean a healthy mother and child, and that it would bring down the infant mortality rate in the State. Sr. Reema, a Nurse working in Tissa, in Longding district, took a session on homeopathic medicine to tackle the contagious diseases in the villages. The refresher course came to an end with a session on report writing and basic tips on photography by Fr. The local administration of Miao sub-division came together to felicitate Dr. George Pallipparambil SDB, on 3rd May for being conferred upon Bharat Gaurav Life Time Achievement Award 2018 by Sanskriti Yuva Sansta, at Namphai I, Changlang District. Additional Deputy Commissioner Shri. Tage Rumi, Zilla Parishad Chairperson, Changlang District, Shri. Jowkhong Singpho, Shri. Apolo James Lungpi, the Extra Assistant Commissioner, Miao subdivision, Shri. Rakesh Kumar Rai, Circle Officer, Kharsang, Smti. Namrata Bhat, Circle Officer Namphai and a host of other diginitatries from around Miao sub-division had gathered at the residential complex of Shri. Tumen Mossang to felicitate Bishop George for the Bharat Guarav Lifetime Achievement Award that he received at the prestigious house of commons, British Parliament, London on April 13. Speaking on the occasion, Shri. Tage Rumi said that the whole sub-division is proud of Bishop George for his contribution to towards people building not just in Miao dub-division but the entire eastern part of Arunachal Pradesh. “We are truly glad that your residence in this sub-division. Because of your greatness we are also globally known today”, said the ADC. Shri. Jowkhong Singpho, the ZPM, also waxed eloquent praises on Bishop George and said this recognition is not just for him but for all of us. “Thank you for making Miao known globally”, he said.
