Bishop George Pallipparambil of Miao Diocese ordained four candidates of Opera Sancta Maria Della Luche (OSMDL) as Priests and Deacon on 15 December at Namgo village. Deacond Agnel George, Amaralapudi Vinod and Antony Merash were ordained Priests and Polimetla Ravi Teja as Deacon at Rosa Mystica School, #Namgo. Father Shobychan Mathew, the Indian Superior of OSMDL presented the candidates. Addressing the candidates, Bishop George said, “We live at a challenging period of our lifetimes. You are called to give good witness to the Gospel and Church”. Cautioning them against mediocrity, Bishop said, “Away from Holy Mass and your spiritual duties as Priests will lead you to fall. History is a testimony to this fact. Be a Priest and not a social worker. Held at Rosa Mystica School Campus, Namgo, the ordination was attended by Chiefs of Singpho villages around. The kids led the entrance procession and the felicitation held after the Ordination Ceremony. “In the midst of so many bad news, may people hear the Good News from you and about you”, said Bishop George. read moreSilai School Teachers Training for dropouts concludes in Miao
Namphai, 12 December: The valedictory function of Swavalamban Silai (Self-help Sewing) School Teachers Training was held today at the Seva Kendra Arunachal East (SKAE) training centre, Namphai in Changlang district of Arunachal Pradesh. The free 10-day residential training was organised by the social service wing of Miao Diocese under the sponsorship of Usha International and Small Industrial Development Bank of India. Speaking at the function, Sister Sunita Parmar, the Director of SKAE, said “This is not merely a training but empowering the school dropout girls from the last villages of Arunachal Pradesh. This is also a community empowerment as the trained students are to train two more dropout girls in their villages within a year”. A total of 25 dropout girls and women attended the 8-hours per days training. The trainees showed remarkable interest in the training. “Most of the trainees had never touched a sewing machine in all their life but now they can also repair one”, said the Carmelite Missionary Nun. The trainer from USHA international, Rumpi Handique Phukan, was totally impressed with the trainees’ grasping ability. “These dropout girls from the interior villages of Lohit, Namsai and Changlang districts, joined us as kachha (untrained) students without any prior knowledge of sewing. But they can stitch most of the basic clothing” Phukan said. Within ten days of training, the trainees are able to cut and stitch kurti, basic block, plated pants, patiala pants, plazo pants, platted skirt, petticoat and hand embroidery and block painting. Make this training as a foundation for a higher goal in life and do not stop till your goal is achieved”. read moreArunachal Christians mourn the death of civilians in Nagaland
Miao, 8 December 2021: A humble village in Changlang district of Arunachal Pradesh organised a condolence prayer service for the Nagaland civilians killed in army firing on 8 December 2021. Youth, elders, women and children of Neotan, a Tangsa tribal village, in Arunachal Pradesh, came together to express their condolence and to pray for the departed souls of the 14 innocent civilians killed in Oting village of Mon district in Nagaland. Leading the condolence prayer service, Bishop George Pallipparambil of Miao diocese said, “We are very saddened to know about the death of civilians in Mon district.” Six civilians, workers in a coal mine, were killed in an ambush by security forces in an area between Tiru and Oring village in Nagaland’s Mon district while returning home in a vehicle on Saturday, 4 November. The incident triggered violence in the area in which eight more civilians were killed after security forces opened fire. “Death of innocent people is always very sorrowful. We offer our heartfelt condolences and sympathy to the families of the departed and we pray that the Almighty God blesses them with eternal rest”, Bishop Pallipparambil said in his condolence message. The prayer service was conducted by the villagers as part of the concluding event of the Year of St. Joseph and the feast of the Immaculate Conception the Blessed Virgin Mary. The village Catechist, Chomjung Mossang, expressed deep sorrow at the loss of lives of civilians. “Most of them are very young with a promising life ahead of them. Some of them leave behind very young children and one of them got married less than a week ago. Words fail me to express my grief”, he said at the prayer service. The condolence prayer service, which began from the Mother Mary Grotto in the village, was attended by people from all faith background. Attending the prayer service, Korong Longri, President of the Tangsa Women Welfare Society of Arunachal Pradesh, said, “Killing innocent civilians and trying to wash off your hands is totally unacceptable. Such mindless killing of innocent people by the security forces has been happening across North East India for the last many years. Such incidents should not happen to anywhere and to anyone.” Holding placard appealing for peace, the villagers concluded the prayer service by planting candles on the junction connecting to the village Church. Most Rev. Joseph Aind sdb led the concluding celebrations of Year of St. Joseph at St. Joseph Chruch, Rajanagar on 5 December 2021. Sacraments of First Holy Communion and Confirmation were administered on nearly 400 youth and adults. The youth from Rajanagar village led the liturgy with a melodious choir. Priests from neighbouring missions joined the celebrations. Bishop Aind, the Bishop Emeritus of Dibrugarh Diocese, was felicitated for his 25th Year of Episcopal Ordination. Faithful from all the villages of Rajanagar Parish came together to mark the conclusion of Year of St. Joseph and show their love for Bishop Aind. Hon’ble Somlung Mossang, the MLA of Bordumsa-Diyun Constituency, under which Rajanagar comes, was present share the joy of the event. He also appealed to the people to model their lives on St. Joseph who was a caring husband, a good father and hardworking person. Fathers Joy Manikathan and Edvin Prabhu represented Bishop George.
