YCS/YSM Animation with a difference in Light of the World School, Miao
1st November, Miao: The Light of the World School (LWS) in Miao had a YCS/YSM Animation Programme on 31st October, 2013.
The YCS/YSM (Young Catholic Students/Young Student Movement) a Student Movement that aims at helping the students become aware of the existing realities of their, school, family and society, to come together in cells of 8 to 12 students to decide and act what they can do to make a difference. It works on a three-fold principle of ‘SEE-JUDE-ACT’.
The Class X students from LWS were divided into four cells for group discussion to “see-judge-act” on various issues, directly or indirectly concerning to them. The four cells took up a cleanliness drive to make the campus plastic free and clean. The four cells took up an activity each like collecting plastics, sticks, cleaning the washrooms and the classrooms.
Speaking about the experience, Martin W, a student of Class X, said, “I thank Fr. Felix and Miss. Moinem for giving us this opportunity to come together in small cells to do something worthwhile for our school.” “In the beginning we were hesitant to do menial job like cleaning our washrooms, but once we understood the reason why we are doing it, we did it with our whole heart. And it was a joy”, said Poooja, another student of Class X.
At the end of the animation, all the students said, “We will make sure to keep our school campus neat and clean from today onward.”
