Students Discuss Social Issues – YCS/YSM Follow Up at LWS, Miao
The Class IX Students of Light of the World School (LWS) Miao came in small groups to discuss the various social issues that are directly or indirectly affecting them at their school premise on 29th August, 2o14.
The YCS/YSM is a student movement that functions on a 3-steps principle – SEE-JUDGE-ACT. The students movement meets at least once a month in small cells of 8 to 12 students. The class IX students at LWS came together in their cells to discuss on the latest events surrounding students. The 45 students of the class were divided into four groups and were given a topic each to discuss, applying the SEE-JUDGE-ACT principle.
All the students actively participated in the cell meeting and the presentation. And all the students were happy to be made aware of the social issues like increase in the number of students suicide cases, teachers beating up the students mercilessly like the one that happened in Kolkata last month, and the decline in the respectful attitude of the students towards the teachers.
“It is always nice to meet together in small cells to discuss the various issues concerning the students. We get a chance to express ourselves and at the same time become aware of the various issues surrounding us”, said Bobita Youngja. “We thank Fr. Felix and Miss Moinem for coming over to over our school to give us guidance for our life”, said Jhumna Dellang a student of Class IX.
