Newman Educational Society Organizes 1st Science Expo at Neotan

  The Newman Educational Society (NES), the educational wing of the Diocese of Miao organized its first Inter-School Science Exhibition, Spectrum 2015, on 14th January 2015 at Newman School, Neotan.  After the success of the Inter-School Sports Festival Radiance 2014 held during October last year, the NES has come up with another novel concept of providing the students with a good platform to showcase their creative ideas and tickle their potency for great scientific inventions. Speaking to the reporters, Fr. Thomas Erambil, the Secretary of NES said, “Our students are not given many opportunities to explore their creative minds in the field of science. NES wanted to address this issue. Hence, this Spectrum 2015, an annual event that will bring together students from all the schools under NES to exhibit their scientific out-of-the-box creations.” He also thanked Hon’bleAdditional Deputy Commissioner (ADC) of Miao Sub-Division, Mr. T. Mara for coming over for the event to encourage the young minds.  Hon’ble ADC, inaugurating the event said to the students, “The society has a lot of hope in you. Young minds like you should apply all your creative ideas for the betterment of the society”. Thanking the NES for its contribution to the field of education and improvement in the literacy rate in this region, he wished the students success and encouraged them to become ‘Doctors and Engineers to make your school and your family feel proud of you’.  Fr. CC Jose, the Vicar General of the Diocese of Miao and one of the Judges for the event addressing the students said, “We all have been using the inventions made by Scientists in the past. You should become scientists yourselves to leave your legacy behind for the next generation.” There were a few interesting projects at the expo including Hydraulic Excavator, Automatic Traffic Controller, Natural Rice Mill, and Steam Boat. Out of the 10 schools that participated in the event, Light of the World School, Miao, won the Ist Prize in the Junior Level and Divine Word School, Roing in the Senior Level. St. Francis School, Namphai 2, Mother Teresa School, Kharsang, Krick & Boury Memorial School, Tezu were the other schools that won prizes at the event. All the students were very happy to participate in the Spectrum 2015. “I am very happy today that I got to represent my school at Spectrum 2015. What makes me more happy today is that we won the First Prize at this event. Past Pupils’ Reunion at LWS Miao

  The First Batch of Class X students (2011 – 2012) of Light of the World School (LWS) Miao had a Reunion Meet at their school campus on 4th January 2014 together with their teachers and the school management.  Sr. Reena George, the Headmistress, expressed her joy at seeing the first batch of Class X students of the School and congratulated them for their initiative to come together to express their gratitude to their teachers and to the school. She also asked them to continue this tradition of coming together every year and to form an Association of Past Pupils of LWS. All the students were very happy to meet one another after long time. Miss Sweety Gogoi, the Anchor for the event and Secretary of the newly formed Past Pupils’ Association LWS Miao said, “I feel greatly blessed and proud to be a part of this great institution and we will all be grateful to the teachers who taught us here”. Fr. Felix also congratulated the students and wished them all well for their future. “The best gift you can give you to your teachers is to make them feel proud of you”, he said to the students. All the teachers gathered for the occasion were very happy to see their students doing well in different parts of India and asked the students to choose the right path always. DEXCO (Youth Commission) Meets in Miao

  The newly elected Diocesan Executive Members (DEXCO) of Youth Commission Miao Diocese came together for the first time evaluate the position of the youth commission and plan ahead for the future on 28th December, 2014 at Bishop’s House, Miao. The Diocesan Youth President Miss Sanlih Wangsu organized this event to bring all the office-bearers for the first time after their election. “It is important for us to meet together so that we can evaluate and plan ahead to strengthen the youth  in the Diocese”, she said. “Echoing the words of Mother Teresa, she said, “We should be the starting point of change.” Mr. Thomas Matey, the Youth Vice President, Mr. Francis Sena, the Spokesperson, and Miss Moinem Chithan, the Treasurer were the other delegates who participated in the meeting together with Fr. Felix.  Fr. Felix thanked them for organizing the meeting and encouraged them to work together as a team to bring about positive results in the youth department in the Diocese. “I congratulate you for being elected as the new Diocesan Youth Representatives and I want your help and cooperation for the progress of the Youth Movement in the Diocese”, he said. The discussed on various agenda including the common trend of youth in the Diocese. They also have drawn a rough sketch for the programmes to be conducted in the future. Arunachal Pradesh Catholic Association (APCA) Meets in Miao

  The Office -Bearers of Arunachal Pradesh Catholic Association (APCA) of Itangar Unit met the members of the Miao Unit here at Bishop’s House, Miao on 17th December, 2014.
