The translation work which was under process for the last three years received its final shape this year and was published during the Chrism Mass at Minthong Parish on 26th March 2015.
Fr. T J Francis SDB, who has earlier translated the four Gospels in Wancho Dialect, with the request from Bishop George took up the bold task of translating the entire New Testament in Wancho, the most prominent a dialect of Longding District of Arunachal Pradesh and in some parts of Tirap District. “I am very happy that my hard work for the past three years has seen the light today”, said Fr. Working with team of Wancho leaders, Fr. TJ, as he is fondly known in this area, dedicated most part of his last three years to this translation work. Thanking his team for the cooperation and support and Fiat Mission for sponsoring the printing of this work, he said, “I am grateful to Bishop George for having confident in me to entrust this responsibility.”
Releasing the New Testament during the Chrism Mass, Bishop George congratulated Fr. TJ for his dedication and commitment for this translation work. “It must inspire many of us to to take up similar responsibility to translate the Message of the Gospel to the language of the people we serve”, he said.
While addressing the Priests and Women Religious gathered for the Chrism Mass, Bishop George said, “Let us make our Liturgy more beautiful. Kindly find time to study the GIRM to have a proper and meaningful celebration of the Liturgy.” Quoting Pope Francis, he added, “We must learn to live the Mass and must make it beautiful with wise combination of silence and music”.
Together with the New Testament in Wancho Dialect, Fr. TJ also brought out Rangtim Lam, a Prayer cum Hymn Book in the same dialect.
