Diocese of Miao Steps into 10th Year!
The Diocese of Miao stepped into its 10th year on 26th February, 2015!
The Diocese of Miao, located in the northeastern most corner of India, coming into being on 5th December 2005 with Bishop George Pallipparambil SDB as its first Bishop, had its formal inauguration on 26th February 2006. It completed nine of glorious going and took its first step to its 10th year on 26th February 2015.
Speaking to the people gathered here in Miao to celebrate the occasion, Bishop George said, “More than congratulating and felicitating one another, we should express our sincere gratitude to God for His abundant blessings on each one of us in the Diocese and pray that He may to continue to do so in the years ahead.” He also expressed his concern over the recent attacks on Church and Catholic institutions all over India and particularly in Delhi. “The Church is going through difficult times. But one thing we should ask ourselves. It is only human to react in a certain way. But Christ has asked us to love those who hate us and pray for those who persecute us. Do we do that?” he asked. He thanked everyone for coming over to celebrate this day in spite of a bad weather conditions.
The Diocese has made progress in all aspects over the last nine years. The number of schools and the social, cultural, environmental development it has made is a testimony to this fact.
The Miao Parish unit of the women commission congratulated the Bishop on his anniversary with song and a beautifully choreographed tribal dance. “We thank God for the Diocese of Miao and for our Bishop George”, said Mrs. Marina Wangsu, a woman leader of the Church.
