A group of 200 youth from around Miao in Changlang District of Arunachal Pradesh walked for 17 kilometers to pray for better Government in India on 13 April.
A walking pilgrimage for 17 KMs to Christ the Light Shrine in Miao, the Cathedral Church of Miao Diocese in east Arunachal Pradesh saw a group of 200 youth pray for better government in India, which is currently going through general elections.
The youth leader, Junem Langching, who organized the event, said this pilgrimage serves two purposes. “We make this pilgrimage as part of our Lenten penance to prepare well for the Holy Week as well as to pray for our country in this season of elections”, she said before the start of the pilgrimage that began from Sacred Heart Church in Neotan at 5.30am and reached the Shrine in Miao at 9.30am.
Bishop George Pallipparambil of Miao Diocese in east Arunachal Pradesh appreciated and blessed the youth for taking up such a novel way of praying for the country and for preparing well for the Holy Week that begins from 14 April.
The four-hour walk saw the youth reciting several Rosaries and Divine Mercy chaplets interjected with hymns and short prayers for a better government in this election year.
